This past Saturday was election day in Taiwan, and marked the first time I've ever properly voted in anything. It felt a little strange that my first vote or ballot would be cast in Taiwan and not the United States - still having some kind of existential musing about what that means for identity and such.

Apparently, Portland, Oregon is full of anarchists (and probably also vegans, independent coffee shops, grunge kids with flannel plaid shirts tied around jeans torn from falling off their skateboards) and the anarchists are in an uprising because 1) that is what anarchists do and 2) the government was mean to a little girl selling lemonade.

I had a busy week, a busy weekend and a lot of conversations that made me thoughtful. One of my students is out with H1N1, so one of my classes was canceled for two days.
